My Approach
Therapy is a collaborative journey; my practice is client-centered which means that we begin where you are and work at your pace. First and foremost, I like to create a safe, nurturing, trauma-informed environment for you to explore your somatic healing journey.
The main therapeutic tools and theories I use are Somatic Parts Work (IFS), Emotional Freedom Technique, Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic Movement Therapy.
My approach to Somatic Therapy is influenced by my background as a therapeutic yoga teacher. I taught yoga for about 10 years, and although I no longer teach yoga, I incorporate many yogic practices, such as breath work, yoga postures, and the Chakras. I am also influenced by Authentic Movement, a movement practice cultivated by Mary Starks Whitehouse which has roots in Jungian Psychology. My approach to the body and somatics is also deeply influenced by my work as a bodyworker and craniosacral therapist.
As an animist and ritualist, I believe that spiritual tools and practices are incredibly supportive on the healing journey. I am a trained astrologer and practitioner of Human Design, both systems that have the potential to bring us deeper into relationship with ourselves, the universe, and our life's journey.
Much of my somatic work is oriented towards helping each client build a relationship with their nervous system, in order to find ways to create safety, ease, and trust in the body. This sense of safety in the nervous system is a vital foundation for healing work.
I strive to create a safer space for people of marginalized identities; my therapy practice is social-justice informed and I hold a feminist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist lens. I welcome people of all identities, including folks who are queer, trans, and poly.
