About Leela

I’m a somatic healing practitioner, grief tender, therapist, bodyworker, and guide with a masters degree in dance/movement therapy and marriage & family therapy and over 15 years of working in the embodied healing arts.

My practice is rooted in mindfulness and body-based approaches; I weave together somatic parts work (IFS), EFT/tapping, expressive arts therapy, biodynamic craniosacral, energy work, yoga, and spirituality to support folks in embodied healing, grief support, and empowered living.

My journey through the world of embodied healing arts has included formal trainings and certifications in therapeutic yoga, hellenistic astrology, massage therapy, somatic parts work, dance/movement therapy, marriage & family therapy, and plant spirit medicine. I have also studied biodynamic craniosacral, body-mind centering, archetypal psychology, clowning, contact improvisation, authentic movement, and circling.

I am long time buddhist meditation practitioner and my experience within this wisdom tradition informs my work as a somatic practitioner. Infused into all the work I do is a quality of deep attentive presence and attention. I am inspired by Insight meditation, Soul Making Dharma, Tara Brach, Catherine McGee and Rob Burbea.

My practice is rooted in an anti-oppressive, intersectional queer feminist framework that welcomes people across many different identities and experiences. The approach I take to healing work is systemic in nature, taking into account the systems of oppression that we live within and how they impact our ability to thrive, heal, and connect.

You can find me in the woods hanging out with trees, getting down on a dance floor, making weird art, or talking endlessly about astrology.
